Genevieve “Genny” Fisher

Genevieve “Genny” E. Fisher, of Delaware went to be with her Lord Jesus on April 7, 2019 at Willow Brook Christian Village in Delaware, Ohio.

She was born October, 1930 in Westerville to the late Robert J. Kroninger and Edna P. Wollam. Her family moved to rural Delaware, near Stratford, when she was 2 years old, where they lived on the family farm. She was active in church youth fellowship, 4-H and graduated from Willis High School in 1949. She married Howard F. Fisher on March 28, 1948 at the Old Stratford Church in Delaware. They celebrated 68 years together.

Genny was employed at Sunray Stove Company (Glenwood Range) in Delaware where she developed many special lifetime friendships. She retired after 30 years with Glenwood as office Secretary.

She was a member of Stratford St. Paul’s UMC in Delaware since 1941, where she participated in church activities and services. Genny enjoyed flower gardening, sewing, playing solitaire, scrabble, puzzles, knitting, and crocheting projects. She also enjoyed coin collecting and playing euchre and having lunch with special friends. She enjoyed traveling and seeing new places but most of all, Genny poured herself into her family, as her love of family was where her heart was. She always saw to the needs of others before herself. She touched many lives with her kind and caring ways. She never missed sending greeting cards for any occasion. Genny was Source Point’s caregiver of the year recipient in 2015. Serving others was Genny’s legacy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband of 68 years, Howard F. Fisher in 2016, sons Mark H. Fisher in 1988 and Dale F. Fisher in 2002, daughter-in-law Vicki Fisher in 2016, and brothers Dorance and Chester Kroninger.

She is survived by her daughter, Lois (Donn) Rooks of Delaware; grandchildren, Bethany Rooks, Kimberly (Shane) Klingel, Mark Fisher, Suzette Fisher, all in the Delaware area, and Sean (Alysha) Rooks of Cheasapeake, VA. Genny also had 11 great-grandchildren. Additionally, step grandchildren, Cassandra (Tom) Hay of Belleville, Anne (Mike) Alexander of New Bloomington and James (Carol) Smith of LaRue; 8 step-great grandchildren. She is also survived by sister-in-laws, Carol (Jim) Sheets of Delaware and Helen Thomas of Springfield, WV; as well as 18 nieces and nephews.

The family extends special thank you to the staff of Willow Brook and Heartland Hospice for her loving care during her last days.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 11, 2019 from 4 – 7 pm at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive (formerly 1510 W. William Street), Delaware, where services celebrating Genny’s life will be held on Friday, April 12, 2019 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jeff Slider officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery.

A second celebration of life service will be held at Willow Brook Christian Village at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Delaware County Historical Society, the USO or the Ronald McDonald House.
