Gary W. Carpenter, 57, of Twp. Rd. 182, Fredericktown, Ohio died Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at his home.

He was born in Barnesville, Ohio on September 29, 1945, the son of Kenneth E. Carpenter and the late Nellie I McCracken Carpenter. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He had worked as a mechanic for The Ohio State University stadium garage for many years. Gary enjoyed collecting and trading guns.

In addition to his father, he is survived by three sons Gary Carpenter of Columbus, OH, Christopher Carpenter of Missouri, and Kenneth Carpenter of Oklahoma City, OK; four daughters Misty Hankins and Gail Carpenter both of Columbus, OH, Michelle Lester of Missouri, and Amie Carpenter of Oklahoma City, OK; 11 grandchildren; three brothers Kenneth Carpenter of Fredericktown, OH, Gene Carpenter of Mansfield, OH, and John Carpenter of Fort Gay, WV; and three sisters Rebecca Harper of Clarksville, OH, Peggy McDaniel and Bonnie Carpenter both of Fredericktown, OH.

Rev. Tony Franklin will conduct funeral services at the Craven Funeral Home on Friday at 2 p.m. Friends may call one hour prior to the services. Burial with military honors by the Mt. Gilead VFW and Am Vets Posts will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville. Arrangements are in care of the Craven & Snyder Funeral Home in Mt. Gilead.
