Franklin O. Cyphers

MANSFIELD: Franklin Omar Cyphers, 86, of Bellville Johnsville Road, died Tuesday, January 11, 2005, in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following a yearlong battle with prostate cancer.
Now at home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and with his beloved wife “Marty”, Franklin was born November 1, 1918, in Johnsville, to Franklin H. and Mary (Snyder) Cyphers, was raised in Mansfield, and was graduated from Mansfield Senior High School with the class of 1938. On January 7, 1942, he married Martha Jane (Leeper) Cyphers.
Franklin was a four year Army veteran serving during WWII. He was employed at Omar and Nickels Bakeries, then worked 33 years at Westinghouse.
He attended Berean Baptist Church with his family and was spiritually reborn and saved on December 18, 1989, with a special evangelistic influence from his grandson Ty. He devoted his entire life to his wife, children and grandchildren and made them his hobby and vocation. His family’s best memories are of the good old days when the whole family of six piled in the car, just to take a drive and stop and get ice cream cones.
He is survived by four children and their spouses and 19 grandchildren Charlene Cyphers of Mansfield, Frank and Jennie Cyphers of Norton, and their daughters Amie, Melanie and Heather, Dr. Ronald and Barbara Cyphers of Bellville and their children Charity Cyphers of Los Angeles, CA, Chastity and Luke Howell of Columbus, Dr. Michael & Barbie Cyphers of Mansfield, Melissa and Marc Wilson of Bellville, Christy Cyphers of Washington, D. C., Tara and Nick Van Horn of Butler, Candice and Rick Butt of Bellville, David Cyphers of Los Angeles, CA, Tyron, Trent, Jason, Terrence, and Taz Cyphers, all of Bellville, Michael and Marilyn Cyphers of Norwalk and their daughters Jill, JoAnn and Jenny; 13 great grandchildren; his younger brother and his wife Robert and Joan Cyphers of Louisville, KY; and his younger sister and her husband Betty and Dave Morrison of Cleveland.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Martha Jane (Leeper) Cyphers on May 8, 2000.
Friends may call today, Thursday, January 13, 2005, from 6 ~ 8 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held Friday at 11 am. The Reverend David J. Pound will officiate. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
