Francis “Bud” Schirtzinger

Francis “Bud” Schirtzinger, age 78, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Friday September 15, 2006 at Morning View Care Center in Centerburg. He was born on August 14, 1928 in Franklin County, Ohio to the late Jacob and Doris (Rogers) Schirtzinger. Bud retired from the Mount Vernon City School System and had been a 54-year member of the Blendon Grange in Westerville, Ohio, lifelong member of the American Dairy Goat Association and was a charter member of the Heart of Ohio Dairy Goat Association. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Arleen (Feight) Schirtzinger, three sons, Glenn E. Schirtzinger of Mount Vernon, Wayne A. (Rebecca) Schirtzinger of Martinsburg, Gary Schirtzinger of Mount Vernon, four grandchildren, Michael Schirtzinger, Brenda Crowl, Danielle Schirtzinger and Brittany Schirtzinger, two great grandchildren, Faith Blackburn and Lee Alan Schirtzinger, a brother, Paul (Margie) Schirtzinger of Florida and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Dorothy Weaver.

Friends may call on Monday from 5 to 7 PM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home and on Tuesday from 10 AM to 11 AM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 AM. Burial with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and can be left at the funeral home.
