Everett B. Neely, age 78, of Blanchard Road, Howard, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2011 at his home.
He was born on November 6, 1932 in Mannington, West Virginia to the late Robert and Icie (Rogers) Neely. Everett was employed as a line supervisor for American National Can from which he retired. Everett was a veteran serving in the United States Army. He was a member of the AMVETS Post #95 here in Mount Vernon. He loved working on cars in the garage, he was a handyman and could fix just about anything. He liked to fish and be outdoors. But most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by two sons, Douglas (Lory) Neely of Howard, David Neely of Howard; a daughter Trisha (Joshua) Moreland of Danville; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Blaine (Doris) Neely of Danville, Richard Neely of Columbus; and a sister Janet (Larry) Miller of Mount Vernon.
Besides his parents, Everett was preceded in death by his wife Freda (Gump) Neely; a brother Warren Neely and a sister Betty Grubaugh.
Friends may call on Thursday from 6 to 8 PM at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home. A service will be held on Friday, at the funeral home, beginning at 11 AM. Burial with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veteran’s Council will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
