Eugene C. Rinehart

Eugene Clifford Rinehart, 92, of Delaware passed away Friday evening, November 16, 2018 at his daughter’s residence.
He was born October 14, 1926 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Clifford and Goldie (Gaines) Rinehart and later proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during World War II. In 1947, Gene married the love of his life, Betty Jean Lemaster, and together they shared 63 years of marriage before her passing in 2010.
Following his love of cars, Gene retired after 40 years as a mechanic with Kreiger Ford in Columbus. He was also a devoted and faithful member of the Eastside Mission Church. He enjoyed working on cars and watching NASCAR. He also built and raced stock cars for many years on the ARCA circuit and enjoyed watching round track racing.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Diane (Mike) Brown of Delaware; sons, Fred (Susie) Rinehart of Delaware, Clifford (Bev) Rinehart, and William Rinehart of Powell; 16 grandchildren including his caregiver Lacey, 32 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren; brother, Ed (Chick) Rinehart of Columbus; special cousin, Suzanne Starbuck of Delaware; several nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and special friends from Case Street in Powell also survive.
In addition to his parents and wife, Gene was also preceded in death by his son Jerry Lee Rinehart and 2 brothers Ralph and Don Rinehart.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 23, 2018 from 12:00 – 3:00 pm at the Eastside Mission Church, 32 Joy Avenue, Delaware, where funeral services will follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. Donnie Akers officiating. Burial will follow in Kingwood Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors provided by the Delaware County Veterans Association.
