Ethlyan “Lurretta” Parsons

Ethlyan “Lurretta” Parsons, 81, of Galion passed away Tuesday evening, December 22, 2020 at Mill Creek Nursing Center in Galion.

She was born March 10, 1939 in Ashland and was the daughter of Floyd and Marjorie (Schreffler) Eagle. On July 15, 1956 she married Macs “Pickles” Parsons, Sr. and they were married 64 years until his passing recently on October 9, 2020.

Lurretta was raised by her grandparents, Ora and Ida Schreffler and lived most of her life in Ashland County. She worked as a dietary aide and cook at various nursing homes in Ashland County, including Colonial Manor in Loudonville. Lurretta was a former member of the Loudonville Christian Church, Loudonville Band Boosters and a past Girl Scout Leader in Loudonville. Lurretta enjoyed crocheting, reading, plastic canvas, embroidering, crossword puzzles, and especially spending time with family.

Lurretta is survived by daughters Ida Jean (Wayne Hines) Parsons of Shreve, Anna Berniece (Marvin) French of Wooster, Linda Sue (Tim) Ling of Loudonville, Lurretta Kay (Frank) Temple of Loudonville and Marjorie Elizabeth (Kevin) Blankenship of Bucyrus; son Macs Tommy Parsons, Jr. of Mansfield; 14 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; brother Ernest (Marilyn) Eagle of Jelloway, Ohio and sisters Opal Coye of Brunswick, Ohio, Shirley Wilson of Loudonville, Sharon Hilson of Findlay, Sandra (John) Pratt of Tennessee and Marjorie (Phil) Berry of Ashland.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two grandsons, James and Michael Owens.

A graveside service for both Macs and Ethlyan will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 in Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville with Pastor George Lore officiating.

I am sorry I was not able to attend today’s service as I have a very ill grandson and I cannot be around people to prevent spreading anything to him.
