Ethel Mae Craig, age 90, of Mount Vernon was called to rest until Jesus comes, Sunday morning, January 31, 2016. She was born October 27, 1925 in Glouster to the late Lewis and Helen (Drotos) Liskey.

Ethel was a faithful member of the Fredericktown Seventh-day Adventist Church and she taught Sabbath School at several area Adventist Churches.  She enjoyed taking walks on the bike path and spending time with her grandchildren.  Ethel is well known for cooking, especially her hickory nut and coconut cream pies and her famous bread and buns.

Ethel is survived by her children, David Craig of Columbus, Jerry (Jean) Craig of Mount Vernon and Annette (Chuck) Hanlon of Eaton Rapids, MI; grandchildren, Seth Hanlon, Matt Craig, Jared Hanlon, Cassie Warren, Benjamin Hanlon, Adam Craig, Joel Hanlon and Caitlin Craig; great grandchildren, Andrew Warren, William Warren, Aaron Hanlon and Charlotte Craig; sisters, Marge Hlavaty of Cleveland and Helen Bendula of Dayton; brother, Frank Liskey of Glouster; and several niece and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ethel is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Craig.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 East High St., Mount Vernon with Pastor Ron Vozar officiating.  Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fredericktown Seventh-day Adventist Church, 173 South Main St., Fredericktown, OH 43019.

  • My earliest memories of Ethel were when she worked at the corner store in Academia. She was a vibrant, cheerful, kind person who had a smile for everyone she met. She will be greatly missed.
