Esther A. Fravel
April 13, 1916 ‒ July 25, 2003
“Aunt” Esther Fravel. 87, a lifelong resident of Harlem Township, now heaven, passed peacefully, Friday July 25, 2003 at Riverside Hospital surrounded by her family who loved her dearly.
She was born April 13, 1916 to the late Floyd and Carrie (Budd) Fravel. She was a graduate of Harlem Township High School, class of 1934. At the age of 13 Esther joined the Harlem Methodist Church, now known as Harlem Road United Methodist Church. The church had great meaning to her and was a big part of her life. Some of the many positions in which she served during her 74 years as member are Sunday School Teacher for 40 years, church Secretary and Treasurer for 24 years and a Youth Leader for 5 years.
When her four brothers were called to WWII she worked at the Kilgore Plant in Westerville. She felt if her brothers could fight for their country she could make bombs and hand grenades. She retired from the Westerville Meadow Gold Dairy in 1979 after working 19 years in accounting.
Survived by Sisters-in-law: Elinor Fravel of Westerville and Mildred Fravel of Harlem Township, 16 Nieces and Nephews, 45 Great Nieces and Nephews, 23 Great-Great Nieces and Nephews.
Preceded by Brothers: Allen, David, Richard, James and Walter; Sisters: Emma Miesse and Ruth Fling; Niece and Nephew: Florence and Max Fling.
Friends may call Monday from 6-9 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury . Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Harlem Road United Methodist Church, 5520 Harlem Rd., Galena with Pastor Bud Leskovac officiaitng. Interment Fancher Cemetery.
