Estella I. Van Sickle

Estella I. Van Sickle, age 100 died Sunday morning April 29, 2001 at Bennington Glen in Marengo.
She was born on June 8, 1900 in East Liberty, Delaware County to the late Winfield and Ruby (Van Sickle) Wilcox. A lifelong Delaware and Morrow County resident. Throughout her life the homemaker had taught school in Sparta, worked in the Machine Shop at Curtis-Wright during WWII and was a short order cook for Lloyd’s Truck Stop.
Estella was a 85 year member of the Marengo United Methodist Church, member of Marengo Senior Citizens, Seniors on Center and played in the Venturer’s Band. Over the years Estella had belonged to the Rebecca Lodge of OES, Marengo Garden Club, and the Pythian Sisters.
Preceded in death by her husband of 57 years: Hubert L. VanSickle in 1980, Son: Harold L. VanSickle in 1989, Daughter: Geneva Fisher, Grandson: Jeff, Brothers: Gerald, Carroll, and Darwin Wilcox, Sisters: Irene Thompson, Ruby Dell Flesher, Vera Rader, and a infant sister.
Survived by Daughter: Genevieve Rogers of Marengo, 9 Grandchildren, 15 Great-Grandchildren, 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren, Daughter-in-law: Marcella Van Sickle, Brothers: Wayne & Gale Wilcox both of Grand Junction, Colo., Vaughn Wilcox of Marengo.
Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, (SR 229), Marengo. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 11:00 a.m. at Marengo United Methodist Church, Rev. Michael Olinger officiating. Burial will follow in Marengo Cemetery.
