Erina Mary Welker, age 79, of Martinsburg Road, Mount Vernon passed away on Sunday November 4, 2007 at her home. She was born on October 7, 1928 in Mount Vernon, Ohio to the late George and Edith (Davis) Madias. Erina worked for the Mount Vernon High School and served as hostess for the Dogwood Inn and most recently for Wendy’s on Newark Road. Although she enjoyed her time at work with friends from the community, nothing was more important to Erina than the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be truly missed by many.

She is survived by two daughters, Catherine Hedges of Mount Vernon, Christine (Charles) Kerin of Howard, four grandchildren, Aaron (Angie) Hedges of Mount Vernon, Angela (David) Khalil of Mount Vernon, Michael (Katie Semones) Kerin of Columbus, Amy (Jamie) Kerin-McClain of Mount Vernon, ten great grandchildren, five sisters, Maria (Al) Feldman of North Hollywood, California, Stella (Jim) Spicer of Mount Vernon, Stamatia (Pat) Mann of Columbus, Martha Snyder of Mount Liberty and Teresa (Terry) Bolens of Newark.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband Carroll Welker (1993), a brother, Nicholas George Madias and a son-in-law, Thomas Hedges.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 5 to 8 PM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 AM at the Colonial City Baptist Church in Bangs. Rev. Dan Whisner will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery.
