Eleanor Wright formerly of East Gambier Street passed away Monday April 16, 2007 at the Ohio Eastern Star Home. Eleanor was born August 3, 1921 in Mount Vernon to the late Carl and Izora (Belt) Wright and spent her lifetime in the Mount Vernon area.

Eleanor was retired from the Mount Vernon News where she worked in advertising and also retired from Shellmar Products. She graduated from the Mount Vernon High School in 1939,was a graduate of Mount Vernon Business College, attended Capitol University, was a member of the Questers and Beethoven Club, and was active in the Republican Women’s Club, Mount Vernon Realtors Association, a former board member at KCH and the Salvation Army where she was a lifetime advisor. She was honored as being the Grand Marshall of the Mount Vernon Christmas Parade and presented by Mayor Mavis a key to the city. She also took pride as being the keeper of Dan Emmett’s grave in Mound View Cemetery where the Eleanor A. Wright Unsung Heroes Award was inspired. Eleanor was a lifetime member of the Gay Street United Methodist Church and an organist at the Presbyterian Church in Fredericktown.

Her parents preceded Eleanor in death. She had many special friends and cousins that survive her. A graveside service will be held Thursday April 19 at 11 AM in Mound View Cemetery with Rev. Dr. David Baker officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Gay Street United Methodist Church. Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
