Elaine Kay Leffler, age 66 of Marion, passed away at her home Wednesday, June 2, 2021.

Elaine was born July 1, 1954 in Marion, the daughter of George Carl and Virginia Mae (Bailey) Leffler. Elaine was a 1972 graduate of Pleasant High School. She earned her Bachelor degree from The Ohio State University and her Master degree from Ashland University.

Elaine was a devoted educator for Pleasant Schools where she faithfully taught 4th grade for over 32 years, retiring in 2013. During her time at the school Elaine was involved with everything she could be. She loved to be with the kids and enjoyed the comradery with her fellow teachers. Even in retirement she couldn’t stay away and volunteered for several years.

Elaine was an avid videographer and photographer. Above all she adored her family and was always the favorite aunt to her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She is survived by her sister: Brenda J. Murray; sister-in-law Stephanie Leffler; nieces and nephews: Lisa (Lonnie) Leffler-West, Donald (Julia) Leffler and Chris (Kathryn) Murray; great nieces and great nephews: Faith, Mason, Blake, and Autumn Murray and Lauren, Nolan, Hank and Avery West.

Elaine is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ronald A. Leffler

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 241 S Prospect St, Marion from 10AM to 12Noon; Funeral service will follow at 12Noon with Rev. Mark Schuring officiating; burial will be in Marion Cemetery.

If so desired donations may be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church, Radio Fund or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

  • My condolences go out to Elaine’s family. I went to Pleasant School with Elaine until I moved away to Upper Sandusky in our sophomore year. I thought it incredibly ironic that my niece, Christy Abbott Lehner taught school at the same school Elaine and I attended and Elaine taught there too!
