Edwin O. Tefs Jr., age 90, of Grant Drive, Fredericktown, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at the Ohio Eastern Star Home.
He was born on December 30, 1922 in Springfield, Massachusetts to the late Edwin and Naomi (Dunham) Tefs Sr. Edwin was employed as a Draftsman at Coopers here in Mount Vernon from which he retired. Mr. Tefs was an avid reader of history, trains and railroads. He collected railroad books and memorabilia. He served on the Fredericktown Library Board was a member of the Howard Christian Church, and was a 50 year member and past Master of the Fredericktown Thrall Lodge #170. Mr. Tefs was a veteran serving in the United States Army during WWII as an Artilleryman.
He is survived by his daughter Sandra Tefs of Mount Vernon; three grandchildren, Carrie (Charles) Smith of Fredericktown, Bryan (Shayna) Menshouse of North Carolina, Aaron Menshouse of New York; and six great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Mr. Tefs was preceded in death by his wife Audrey M. Tefs; his daughter Rev. Alyssa Ann Menshouse; his sister Adelaide Bonacker and his infant brother Kenneth Tefs.
Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 6PM at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown where a Masonic service will follow beginning at 6PM. A graveside service, with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veteran’s Council, will be held on Friday beginning at 10AM in Forest Cemetery.
