Edward P. Dauchy, age 87, of Mount Vernon, OH formerly of Winter Haven, FL and Willowick, OH passed away on Wednesday morning, February 9, 2011 surrounded by his loving and caring family at the Country Club Retirement Campus in Mount Vernon. He was born on August 4, 1923 in Cleveland, a son of the late Harry and Anna (Glauser) Dauchy.
Ed retired from Ohio Bell as a Telephone Engineer and was a member of the 315th Bomb Wing of the Army Air Corp. during WW II, stationed in Guam and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a member of the Acacia Lodge #651 of the F. & A.M. in Euclid, OH, the American Legion Post 8 in Winter Haven, FL, and the Telephone Pioneers of America in Polk County. For 18 years, Ed repaired talking books for the blind.
Ed is survived by his devoted wife of over 62 years, Hazel (Malbon) Dauchy; daughters, Ellen (David) Varecka of Lancaster, NY, Nancy (Garry) Shaffer of Chesterville, OH, Sarah (Dan) Grill of Eastlake, OH, and Amy (Tim) Glenn of Mentor, OH; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Maher; and brothers, Robert and Leroy Dauchy.
The family will have a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the Doylestown Church of the Nazarene, 15197 Portage St, Doylestown, OH 44230 with Pastor Timothy Ruch officiating.
Private inurnment will take place in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville, OH.
