MANSFIELD: Edith Kaler, 85, of Dublin, and formerly of Maumee Avenue, Mansfield, died Friday evening February 15, 2008 in Summerville at Lakeview Assisted Living in Groveport, following a short illness.
She was born December 17, 1922 in Laramie, Wyoming to Harry J. and Anna (Keiser) Casad, and had lived in Mansfield most of her life. She was graduated from Springfield Township School (later Ontario High School) in 1941, and also from the Mansfield Business College.
During WWII, Edith was a civilian worker on the Wright Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton.
Edith had worked as a real estate agent with Tom Mattox and Associates Agency, but her priority was her role as a devoted wife and mother and loving grandmother.
An avid gardener, she enjoyed sewing and needlework projects, as well as reading.
She is survived by her husband Arthur Clarence Kaler, whom she married July 10, 1948; their son and daughter-in-law James & Valerie Kaler of Avon, Ind.; daughters Nancy Kaler and Pamela Kaler both of Columbus; and a grandson Joseph DiNapoli of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her brother Richard J. Casad.
A graveside funeral service will be held Monday, February 18, 2008 at 1 p.m. in Mansfield Memorial Park, with Chaplain Len Martin officiating. The Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home (former Finefrock Funeral Home) is in charge of funeral arrangements.
