E. Maxine Pierce, 93, of Galion, died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013 at Magnolia Terrace in Galion where she has resided the last four years.

Born Sept. 3, 1919 in Mt. Gilead, she was the daughter of the late George and Myrtle Garverick Herron. She was preceded in death on Mar. 18, 1978 by her husband, Bert H. Pierce whom she married on Nov.17, 1940.

Maxine did housekeeping and babysitting for various area families for over 30 years. She primarily stayed at home and raised two children.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley J. and Ralph Shadley of Galion; one son-in-law,
Larry Kemp of Galion; three grandchildren, Cheryl Monty Mathis, Bruce Shadley and Denise Kemp and two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Chandra Scribner.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one daughter, Diane Kemp; an infant son, Bruce Eugene Pierce; one sister, Bernice Baehr and two brothers, Tellus Herron and George Herron, Jr.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013 at Fairview Cemetery in Galion with Rev. Joe Stafford officiating. There will be no visitation.
