December 02, 1929 ‒ August 24, 2017

Galion, Ohio

Doyle W. Keller, 87, of Galion, passed away on August 24, 2017 at Signature HealthCARE of Galion.

He was born December 2, 1929 in Galion, Ohio to Charles Walter and Edythe E. (Seitz) Keller.  Doyle is survived by his wife of 66 years, Barbara J. (Shaffer) Keller.  They were married on December 31, 1950 at The First United Church of Christ in Galion.

After graduating from Galion High School in 1947, Doyle immediately began his career in auto parts in 1947 by working for the local NAPA store in Galion. In 1951 he entered the U.S. Army serving in Germany until his honorable discharge in 1953. Upon leaving the army, he immediately resumed his career in the auto parts business while relocating to Dayton, Ohio where he was a managing partner of a NAPA store in Dayton. Doyle and Barbara returned to Galion in 1962 and Doyle accepted an opportunity to manage the Galion NAPA store which was under new ownership and was now known as Crawford Auto Parts. He continued in that capacity until 1978 when Doyle and Barbara took the big step of forming Keller Auto Parts, Inc. and going into business for themselves.  The family run parts business continues today with stores in Galion and Crestline being managed by two of their sons. Doyle was a life-long member of The First United Church of Christ in Galion. Doyle enjoyed his Wheel Horse tractors and spent many hours using and maintaining them for the purpose of meticulously caring for his yard and adjoining acreage. Although Doyle was a man that was driven to work, he and Barbara were able to enjoy much time traveling over all fifty states and many foreign countries.

Doyle and Barbara were blessed with five children: Sandra K. (Mark) Powell of Galion, David Wm. (Lisa) Keller of Perrysville, Charles E. Keller of Galion, Stephen R. (Sandra) Keller of Galion and Amy L. Keller of Galion. Doyle will be greatly missed by his ten grandchildren with whom he generously shared his advice: Matthew K. Powell, Eric G. Powell, Jonathan D. (Sylvia) Keller, Andrew S. (Amy) Keller, Grace E. Keller, Daniel W. Keller, Samuel J. Keller, Ethan W. Keller, Victoria L. Keller, and Kacy E. (Chase) Donnelly. Doyle is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Emery J., Jr. and Marjorie Shaffer.

Doyle was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard C. Keller.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833. A service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 28, 2017 in the First United Church of Christ, 248 Harding Way West Galion, Ohio with Rev. Darrin Harvey officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Army and the Galion Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Church of Christ Organ Fund or the First United Church of Christ Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home.
