Dorothy “Dolly” Shaw Shade Jennings, 85, of St. Rt. 61 N, Mt. Gilead, Ohio died Tuesday, December 18, 2001 in the Johnson City Memorial Hospital in Johnson City, TN.

She was born in Waynesfield, Ohio on July 23, 1916, the daughter of the late Raymond S. and Hazel L. Carter Shaw. She graduated from Wapakoneta High School in 1935. She worked as a cook for the former Shaw’s Restaurant in Mt. Gilead and for 23 years for the Mt. Gilead Schools until retiring in 1980. Dorothy was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Orchid Twig at Morrow County Hospital, the American Legion Auxiliary, the V.F.W. Post #8054 Auxiliary, and the Galion Moose Lodge Auxiliary.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law George R. & Colleen Shade of Gray, TN, and John B. & Diann Shade of Mt. Gilead, OH; a step-son and daughter-in-law Keith B. & Yvonne Jennings of Kettering, OH; 3 grandchildren Carla Russell and Dawn Fraizer both of Galion, OH, and Darren Shade of Cardington, OH; 9 step-grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 14 step-great grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law Evelyn L. & Bill Blair of Ft. Myers, FL.

Her husbands George R. Shade and Kent B. Jennings preceded her in death.

Friends may call at the Craven Funeral Home in Mt. Gilead Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Rev. Bruce Hartley will hold funeral services there Saturday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Rivercliff Cemetery in Mt. Gilead. Memorial contributions can be made to her church or the Orchid Twig.
