At age 18, Doris Eckenrode was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. An inspiration to her family, Doris taught to never quit or give up. On January 7, 2015 Doris L. Eckenrode passed away in Ohio Health MedCentral Hospital surrounded by family, due to complications from the flu.  She was 81.

She was born March 22, 1933 to parents Clifford & Kathleen (Shaffer) Donelson in Johnsville.

Doris, a longtime area resident, truly enjoyed spending time at the historical Central Park square in downtown Mansfield. While a resident at Crystal Care Center in Mansfield she looked forward to weekly vocal programs, as well as Sunday morning worship service.

In spare time, she took pleasure in playing bingo and collecting angels. But above all, Doris cherished Spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her children Terri (Jeff) Altstadt, Tony Eckenrode, Dana (Clark) Page, and Bill Eckenrode; grandchildren Michael (Stephanie) Altstadt, Becky Eckenrode, Ashley Williams, Christopher Altstadt, Nadya Page and Sarah Altstadt; great grandchildren Alyssa Cottreil, Javien Daniel Baith, and Emma Altstadt, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents Doris was preceded by her siblings Robert “Jake” Donelson, Bev Eckeret, Pete Donelson, Joyce Snavely, Nancy Murray, Sharon Ickes, and her long time companion Bob Ward.

A memorial service honoring Doris’s life will be held Saturday, January 10, 2015 at two o’clock in Wesleyan Holiness Church, 1109 Walker Street, Mansfield, Ohio, 44906. Pastor Butch Cantleberry will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date.
