Doris I. “Dodie” Legg, age 44, of 51 Columbus Road, Mount Vernon passed away at the home she shared with her special friend, Chuck Edmister, on Sunday June 13, 2004. She was born July 20, 1959 in Mount Vernon and had spent most of her lifetime in the Mount Vernon area. She attended the Knox County Career Center and graduated from Mount Vernon High School. Doris had been employed at Neff’s Cardinal Market, Hot Rods, and Rite Aid all in Mount Vernon and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Florida.

She was a member of the R&K Social Club and the Moose Lodge both in Mount Vernon. Doris loved music, singing karaoke, camping, swimming, cooking and taking care of people.

Surviving are her two daughters Lindsay Nicole Legg and Kelsey Noelle Legg both of Mount Vernon; her mother Wanda (Parker) Fry of Mount Vernon; her father James Legg Sr. of Mount Vernon; 3 brothers James (Pam) Legg Jr., Roger (Shelly) Legg and Orville “Junior” (Denise) Wells all of Mount Vernon; 3 sisters Darlene (Mike) Hinkins, Cathy (Bryan) Elswick and Ruth (Rusty) Fry all of Mount Vernon; her foster sister Lelia Johnson Black of Delaware; several foster brothers; 17 nieces and nephews, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 7 PM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon where the Ladies of the Moose will conduct memorial services at 7 PM. A service to celebrate the life of Doris Legg will follow.
