LEXINGTON: Donald Paul Schenk, age 70, of Lexington passed away Sunday, November 8, 2009 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital.

He was born March 6, 1939 in Lexington the son of Paul and Sarah (Foust) Schenk and was graduated from Lexington High School in 1958.

On September 10, 1966 he married Patricia Oxender, with whom he celebrated 43 years of marriage.

A life long area resident, Don was an ambitious man with a hard work ethic. In addition to operating his farm in rural Lexington, he also worked for AK Steel as a crane operator. He retired after 32 years of service.

Quite simply, Don’s passion was in farming. He loved the equipment, the open air and everything in between. He enjoyed attending auctions where he never knew what treasures awaited him.

Don was a member of Steam Corners United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife Pat Schenk of Lexington, he is survived by a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Eugene and Marita Oxender of Mansfield, a sister-in-law Marlene Schuler of Miami, Florida; niece Cindy Oxender, nephews Tracy Schuler, Tim and Tom Oxender, great niece Cecelia Tio; close cousins Forest and Pat Foust, and numerous extended family.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 10, 2009 from 4-7pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11am. The Rev. John Partridge will officiate and burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery.
