Dixie Lee Wirick, age 58, of Fredericktown, Ohio, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2015 at her residence. She was born on December 6, 1956 in Mount Vernon, Ohio the daughter of Robert C. and Ruth (Dunlap) Wirick. Dixie graduated from the Ohio School for the Deaf in Columbus, Ohio and was a 29 year employee of the Columbus Distribution Center of the United States Postal Service. In her younger years, Dixie enjoyed taking care of her horses and participated in many of the local barrel racing contest. She had a gentle soul that touched the lives of so many. Dixie was a member of the Fredericktown Church of Christ.

She is survived by her loving mother, a brother, William (Tammy) Wirick of Bellville, a sister, Charlotte (Robert) White of Apopka, Florida, niece and nephews, Bill (April) Wirick, Kyle Wirick, Wesley White, Bobby Wirick and Amanda Wirick, great niece and nephews, Addison, Liam, Collin and Hayden.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert C. Wirick and a brother, Robert V. Wirick.

A funeral service will be held on Friday beginning at 11 a.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown where friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Mr. Aaron Veyon will be officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville.

Memorial contributions in Dixie’s name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

  • I will miss Dixie very much. I worked with her at the post office. We both had the same seniority date. I always enjoyed our talks and she had the best smile 🙂 She loved the Lord very much and read her devotional daily. Such a sweet person.

  • So saddened by Dixie’s passing. Even though I didn’t know sign language we were still able to communicate. She would always ask about my son and grandchildren. My prayers go out to her family at this time of sorrow. She is gone way too soon.

  • I remember her in my school days at Ohio School for the Deaf in 73-76. She was in driving education class with me. She was very sweet lady in Ohio School for the Deaf as I was student until graduation in 1976. I had not see her since graduation until found out her passed away.   • I worked beside Dixie the last past year almost everyday at the Post Office . I will miss her smile and the laughs we shared . She was a very sweet , loving and caring lady . Rest in peace my friend .

    So sorry to hear about loss of your lovely daughter Dixie! She was my classmate at OSD many time . My name is Carl Nickels and call me Chip. You should remember me at school from 1962 to 1977 and she do the same . She was with me for prom when we were in 11 grade . I keep think about all of you since I heard that happen !

  • I met Dixie twenty years ago, working at the post office. I worked with her much a few years ago, and often saw her at work after that time. I will miss her. My condolences to you all.

  • I just found out about this from Don & Susan Algire my heart dropped I’m so sorry to hear of this Dixie & I spent the best times horseback riding, fishing, swimming, I enjoyed everything about her she had the biggest muscles in her arms and it took them to hold back the Thoroughbred mare she rode . Thinking of Ruth, Bill, Charlott and what a loss for them so sorry.. Colby
