Devon Lynn Baldwin

September 26, 1990 ‒ August 28, 2019

Delaware, Ohio

Devon Lynn Baldwin, of Delaware, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at The James Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was 28 years old.

Devon was born September 26, 1990 to Kevin Baldwin and Tracy Holmes. She was a Pre-School teacher at Buckeye Learning Center, while attending a four year nursing program at Mt. Carmel College of Nursing. She also held various leadership positions as a Medical Assistant at Wave Lengths Recovery in Huntington Beach, California. Her passion for helping people followed her throughout her short life.

Devon’s love for art started at a very young age, which was portrayed through her drawings, paintings, writing and photographs. She especially enjoyed poetry, even though unbeknownst to her, she excelled in it all. Her passion for running was strong, even in her final days…but who’s surprised? She could never sit still. She had the most beautiful smile, as it was very contagious and would light up anyone’s soul!

She loved and adored her Pomeranian, Saydee, and she rarely left the house without her. Saydee never went without anything, even if Devon did.

Devon was Mom’s first tiny little miracle, who without knowing it, showed Mom the true meaning of unconditional love. She brought so much joy to her mother’s life. Devon loved it when Mom prayed with her and sang “You Are My Sunshine” to her. Devon wrote to her mother, “I just want you to know you are my world. I love you so much and life would be meaningless without you in it” She loved her “Moma’. Devon will be missed everyday of her Mother’s life. She is now Mommy’s little Angel flying high. Until we meet again, my precious baby. Rest In Peace.

The relationship she had with her sister Kasey was indescribable. Their love for each other was undeviating, through time and distance, friends, fights, girlfriends and boyfriends. They could speak without words and together they were unstoppable. Their bond could withstand a universe of obstacles, and it did. She was the most incredible sister and their bond will live on after life. Devon wrote the following to Kasey on her 18th birthday: “Here’s a balloon for every year, every moment of happiness and every tear. I’ve filled them with air so that they will soar, now say goodbye as you open your doors. Watch them as they drift away, for it’s time to let go of every yesterday. I’ll hold your hand one last time as you approach life’s starting line. So spread your wings and I’ll help you fly, because now it’s your turn to touch the sky. I love you Kasey Jo. Love, Devon.”

Devon wasn’t a friend of convenience or circumstance, she understood people, all people. She was loyal and unconditionally kind. Her best friends, Melesha Melfe and Molly Bennett knew that best. Devon’s impact stretched levels beyond blood and she became Godmother to O’Shan and Jerome, Melesha’s children. Devon’s Godchildren were both very near and dear to her heart, and she loved them as they were her own.

Proceeded in death by her father, Kevin Baldwin, Uncle Danny (Francis Daniel Holmes IV), aunt Linda Jean Baldwin and grandparents Joe and Margaret Baldwin.

Devon is survived by her mother, Tracy (Holmes) Junk; sister, Kasey Jo Baldwin; dog daughter, Saydee; stepdad, Mike Junk; step-sisters, Michelle (Mike) Render and Allison Junk; grandparents, Joann and Francis Daniel Holmes III, special cousins, David (Rachel) Baldwin and their children Ella, August and Ava and Colleen Baldwin and her children, Alexis and Kiara and Ashley Holmes and her son, Austin and Danny Holmes (Francis Daniel Holmes V).

  • I went to middle school with Devon and Melesha, I was new to the school for 8th grade and both of them befriended me right away! When I think of Devon I think of all the sleepovers at Melesha’s over the weekends and just our time we spent at school between classes and at lunch! After middle school unfortunately I had lost touch, I was very sad to hear about what happened. While she may not be here physically I believe she will stay with all those close to her in spirit! My deepest condolences to all those close to Devon and her family! Fly high Devon!
