Deanna “DeeDee” Paykoff

July 01, 1955 ‒ June 11, 2020

Lewis Center, Ohio

Deanna (Barklow) Paykoff was born on July 1, 1955 in Columbus, Ohio. Better known as Deedee to all who knew and loved her, she passed peacefully at home on June 11, 2020. She fought a hard six months, following a stroke the week before Christmas.

Survived by her husband of 44 years, Chris; daughter, Heather (Thornton) Lindquist; son, Christopher (Kelly); five grandchildren, Nichole and Andrew Deaner, Kylie, Kalynn, and Kenadee; sister, Cathy (Kenn) Bowes; nephew, Patrick; niece, Jackie (Brent) and great nephew, Jordan. Also survived are sister-in-law, Georgie; brothers-in-law, Dan and Pat, and their families; numerous cousins and many friends.

Deedee enjoyed Buckeye games and NASCAR, especially when Tony Stewart was in the lead. Talented on the sewing machine, she sewed clothing and costumes for her kids and grandkids. She enjoyed ceramics class and showcased the house with her many creations. She loved to shop, go out to eat and she read a lot of books. Most recently, she looked forward to hearing Bill Foley sing. Deedee’s most favorite times were always spent with family, especially playing board games with her grandkids, who let her win sometimes. Her infamous chuckle, both infectious and plentiful, was testimony of her delight.

Retired from Olentangy Local School District, Deedee was the one everyone came to for questions. She spent 28 wonderful years as building secretary for several elementary schools. Students, parents and staff alike, adored her.

DeeDee was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Patricia Barklow, her younger sister, Susan Lowery, her mother-in-law, Iris and her brother-in-law, Rick.

A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday July 14, 2020 from 4 – 8 pm at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive at W. William Street, Delaware, Ohio 43015.

The Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center is honored to serve the Paykoff family.
