David C. Martin

December 29, 1950 ‒ May 09, 2018

Butler, Ohio

BUTLER:  David C. Martin, age 67, of Butler and formerly of Galion,  passed away Thursday evening, May 9, 2018 in Avita Hospital, Galion.

He was born December 29, 1950 in Mansfield, the son of Francis and Winnie (Cook) Martin.  David was graduated from Lexington High School in 1970.  On November 10, 1973 he married Emma Kimbler with whom he celebrated 44 years.

Hardworking and dedicated, David worked as a purchasing agent, most of his career at Ohio Brass and HPM.

A member of Resurrection Parish, and former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, David served the church his whole life as an alter server, communion distributor, nursing home visitor and served on Parish Council.

A proud supporter of his children, David attended every sporting event, even if he wasn’t well.  A master gardener, David’s flowerbeds were the talk of the neighborhood, and he genuinely enjoyed yard work.  He also liked fishing and taking walks with his faithful canine friends Angel and Jazz.

Described as intelligent and a perfectionist, David could also surprise with a streak of orneriness, exposing his true comic character.

David is survived by his loving wife Emma Martin of Butler; two children Chris Martin and Jessica Couch of Summerville, SC, and Tesa and Chris Oehler of Galion; six grandchildren Audra and Jillian Martin, Morgan Bowers, Nadia, Nicolas and Jaxon Oehler; three brothers and a sister William and Janie Martin, Bernard Martin, Francis Martin and Mary Martin; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Bill Kimbler and Wanda and Rick Schnabel, along with nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Friends may call Sunday, May 13, 2018 from 3-6 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where a vigil service will be held at 6 pm.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, May 14, at 10:30 am in Resurrection Parish, The Rev.
