Danny T. Marcum, age 52 died Thursday afternoon, April 22, 2004 near Martinsville, Indiana from injuries sustained in a traffic accident on Interstate 70, West of Indianapolis, Indiana.

He was born on March 31, 1952 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Boyd and Dove (Copley) Marcum. Dan attended Xavier University and was a US Navy Veteran. He moved to Delaware in 1992 from Cambridge, where he served as Salt Fork State Park Manager. He retired in 2001 as the Regional Manager of Alum Creek, Delaware, and Mt. Gilead State Parks for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

He volunteered for Helpline as well as Global Village and was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Blue Knights, H.O.G.’s., and a former member of 121st Ohio Civil-War Volunteer Infantry.

Known as a true “Renaissance Man”, he had numerous interests including motorcycles, gardening, golfing, and playing the guitar.

Survived by his wife Jayne (Dierker) Marcum, whom he married Dec. 31, 1983 in Pemberville, Ohio; Daughters Annie at home, Kelly (Christopher) Frisco of Wilmington, Mindy Marcum of Columbus; Brothers Bill (Gertie) Marcum of Marion, Steve (Claudia) Marcum of Sardinia; Parents-in-law Bob and Milly Dierker of Pemberville, and other extended family members.

Preceded in death by Sister Rose Bailey.

His family will greet friends Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St. (SR 36), Delaware. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 3:00 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church, 55 W. Lincoln Ave., Delaware, with Pastor Warren Campbell-Gaston officiating.
