Cyril “Bill” Dawson Jr., age 83, of Ridgeway Drive, Howard, Ohio, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2010 at his home.

He was born on March 7, 1927 in Norwalk, Ohio to the late Cyril and Martha (Harrison) Dawson Sr.. Bill was employed at the Rotary Printing Company in Norwalk, Ohio. He was a member of the Gay Street United Methodist Church, the V.F.W. and American Legion here in Mount Vernon. He was also a member V.F.W., American Legion, Eagles and Moose Lodge in Norwalk, Ohio. Bill was a Veteran serving in the United States Army from 1945 to 1953.

He is survived by his wife Mary Ellen (Anderson) Dawson; two sons, Michael (Betsy) Dawson of Lutz, Florida, Thomas (Marcia) Dawson of Norwalk, Ohio; two stepdaughters, Sarah (Bradley) Holmes of Kingwood, Texas, Barbara (Brian) Drummond of Guam; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; a brother John “Jack” (Marilyn) Dawson of California; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother Thomas Dawson.

Friends may call on Saturday, May 15, 2010 from 10 AM to 11 AM at the Gay Street United Methodist Church where a memorial service will follow beginning at 11 AM with Rev. Dr. David Baker officiating. A private burial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Norwalk, Ohio on a later date.
