Clyde W. Jackson

July 04, 1944 ‒ February 14, 2021

Mansfield, Ohio

Clyde Jackson, age 76, peacefully passed into heaven on Valentine’s Day 2021 from Galion Pointe following an extended illness.

Clyde Webster Jackson, Jr. was born in Shelby and came into this life “with a bang” on the 4th of July, 1944, the son of Clyde, Sr. & Bertha (Lovely) Jackson. He was a graduate of Galion High School and went on to earn his associate degree. He proudly served in the United States Navy in the 1960’s.

Clyde met Barbara Solomon and the pair married on November 29, 1980. He was a member of North Woodbury Alliance Church. Clyde owned his own business, Jackson Painting & Home Repair in Mount Gilead. He was hardworking and always provided for his family. He enjoyed golfing and satisfying his sweet tooth with a chocolate treat. He loved animals—especially dogs—and kept others laughing by being an all-around jokester. His family likes to say he was “six foot, six and ornery every inch!” He will be dearly missed by family and friends alike.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Barbara Jackson of Mansfield; children Craig Jackson of Florida, Jennifer Jackson of Washington, Shelli (Darrel) Schrock of Wisconsin, and Staci (Rob) Good of Arizona; daughter-in-law Kim Solomon; eight grandchildren: Emma, Dylan, Noah, Seth, Joshua, Jessica, Will, and Sarah; three great-grandchildren; brothers Raymond (Thelma) Jackson and Cal (Pat) Jackson; sister Peggy (Brad) Duncan; brother-in-law Larry Williams; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends; and his favorite feline companion Mommy.

In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by a son Steven Solomon, and siblings Manuel “Jack” Jackson, Jean Williams, Joy Moyer, and an infant sister.

A memorial service honoring his life will be held 1:00 PM Monday, February 22, 2021 at North Woodbury Alliance Church, 6385 St Rt 314, Mt. Gilead OH, 43338. Pastor Cory Schnuerer will officiate and there will be a time of fellowship after the service. Military honors will be performed by active duty members of the United States Navy.
