Cleo Congdon Beck of Mount Vernon, OH, formerly of Byers, CO died on April 6, 2019. She was born September 13, 1924 in Denver, CO.  She lived in Colorado most of her life, moving to Mount Vernon, OH in 1999.

Cleo is survived by her children, Arthur Beck (Rosemary), Roberta Lutton and Bobbie Thomas (Larry). Daughter-in-law Patricia Beck. Her Grandchildren Sonya Sayre (Kenny), Michael Lutton (Kristy), Catherine Dieck (Michael) & Greg Beck (Sarah) and her Great Grandchildren Ryan and Austin Thomas, Haley and Josie Sayre, Mary and Thomas Lutton, Natalie,  Eli and Samantha Dieck and Andrew Beck.

Preceding her in death was her husband Arthur Beck and son Leigh Allen Beck(Patricia), son-in-law John Lutton (Roberta)  as well as her brothers and sisters, Leigh Congdon,  Joy Walden, Donald Congdon; Jean Congdon ; and her mother and father, Eleanor G. Congdon and Clarence P. Congdon

Cleo’s faith was very important to her. She was active member of Saron Lutheran Church in Strasburg, Colorado until moving to Ohio where she attended Faith Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon.

Cleo was first and foremost a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandma. She lived to travel and visit her children and grandchildren.  She was active in her communities in Scouts, Kids Camps, honorary grandparents of Strasburg HS athletes, VFW and Sunday School/ Bible School.

She loved to shout BINGO, and funded many of her trips with her Bingo proceeds.

She will be missed by many, but we we can truly say that she lived her life to the fullest, and left us with many wonderful memories.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2019 at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 East High St., Mount Vernon. A funeral service will be held at the Faith Lutheran Church, 170 Mansfield Ave., Mount Vernon on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Mark Wildermuth officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Gambier.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Lutton, I am deeply sorry for the loss of Bobbi’s mother Mrs. Beck. I never had the pleasure of meeting her, but she seems a happy soul. God Bless her and you. She is truly home now. She lives on and on in your heart.
