Clara B. Hammond

ASHLAND: Clara B. Hammond, age 87, of Ashland passed away Monday morning, July 19, 2021 in her home following a short illness.
She was born March 16, 1934 in Fraziers Bottom, West Virginia, to the late Herschel and Bertha (Doss) Carte.
On March 25, 1950 she married James Leo Hammond and together they celebrated 71 years and raised their two children.
Clara worked at Abbott Laboratories for 27 years in Ashland and also as head cook at Good Shepherd Home for over 17 years.
She and James loved to travel when they were able but more recently delighted in spoiling their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Clara was a skilled gardener and loved flowers. Her property reflected her dedication in keeping things around her beautiful.
Surviving are her husband James Hammond, children Wilma Husk and Gary (Pam) Hammond; grandchildren Anita (Michael) Schwab, Christopher Hammond, Jennifer (Kevin) Gregory, Crystal Husk, Raymond “Jayar,” (Dannielle) Husk, Michael Hammond; great grandchildren Autumn (Brent) Harned, John (Sarah) Powell, Shelby Hammond, Rylee (Joshua) McCormick, C.J. Hammond, Brianna Hammond, MaKayla Hammond, Tara Gregory, Ethan Schwab, Stephen Husk, and Waide Husk; great great grandchildren Caroline, Clinton, Charlotte, Claire, Kimberly and Anna; siblings Denny, Buck, Lois, Helen, and Audrey.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son James Lee Hammond, son-in-law Raymond “Fred” Husk, siblings Ivan, Edna Mae, Mary, and Elma.
A graveside service will be held Friday, July 23, 2021 at 12 pm in Shauck Cemetery.
