Christina M. Mackey

July 28, 1921 ‒ July 29, 2018

Galion, Ohio

Don’t cry for me my soul is bound for glory.  The days were enough, but I longed for more.  Though this journey left a legacy forever imprinted on the lives of those I’ve loved, still, my eyes were set on Heaven’s gaze. Throughout this life, I prepared a home for many. Now I find rest in the eternal home long prepared for me.  The melodious song of my heart has now been replaced with the Heavenly choir’s, How Great Thou Art. How Sweet the Sound of the voices waiting to greet me.  At long last I was able to embrace those that left my heart void. Do not cry for me, for heaven is my long awaited home.

Christina Mae (Neumann) Mackey touched the hem of His garment on Sunday, July 29, 2018. Christina was born July 28, 1921 in Galion. She was the second oldest of 14 children and was a pivotal part in helping to raise all of her younger siblings. She loved living life on a farm and was very content finishing her earthly race on one.  Christina married the love of her life, Willard, on November 15, 1941. Together they had three children and maintained a work ethic like none other.  Whether it was farming, gardening or teaching Sunday school, they always did everything in a spirit of excellence.  Life was not always easy for Christina.  As Max Lucado once said: “God never said the journey would be easy, but He did say the arrival would be worthwhile.” How sweet it is to know that Christina is tasting the fruits of her faith and that her beautiful smiles void of the pain and heartache of this world. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family.  She delighted in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Always willing to teach them and never forgetting to patiently share memories and life lessons along the way.  She surely leaves behind a void that could never be filled. Her family will always remember her wonderful cooking and will treasure the flawless knitted and quilted items that she leaves behind.  Her smile reaches beyond the chasm and lights our memories with its beauty.  She had the biggest smile of anyone.

Christina was preceded in death by, her parents, Grover and Ella Neumann; husband Willard Mackey, Sr.; son, Willard Mackey, Jr.; son-in-law, Steve Montgomery; grandson, Bret Mackey; great grandson, Lazarus Mackey as well as 12 siblings.

She is survived by her sister Jill Stall; daughter, Mary Montgomery; son David (Rebecca) Mackey; daughter-in-law, Sandra Mackey; grandchildren, Edward (Julie) Mackey, Lisa (Gary) Timmons, Matthew (Paula), Mackey, Shawna Mackey, Amy Montgomery, Brian (Christine) Mackey and Kimberly (Matthew) Snyder; as well as many great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and her beloved little dog, Annie Laurie

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 3, 2018 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday with Pastor Steve Phillips officiating.
