Chester R. Lembcke, age 94, of Coshocton Road, Howard, Ohio passed away on Monday, October 24, 2011 at the Emeritus at Hillen Vale.

He was born on March 17, 1917 in Ramona, South Dakota to the late Rheinold and Bertha (Lebahn) Lembcke. Chester was employed as the Postmaster in Ramona, South Dakota for many years. He was a 66 year member of the American Legion Post #216 in Ramona and was a member of the Fredericktown, Ohio Seventh Day Adventist Church. Chester was a veteran serving in the United States Army during World War II in North Africa, Germany, France and Italy.

He is survived by his Daughter Gloria Mitchell of Howard, Ohio; his son Chester L. (Karen) Lembcke of Paradise, California; five grandchildren, Chad (Nona) Mitchell, Kimberly (Aaron) Myers, Christopher Mitchell, Eric (Kristen) Lembcke, Holly Lembcke; three great-grandchildren, Rachel Mitchell, Nicholas Myers, Noah Myers; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Chester was preceded in death by his wife Gladys Lembcke; his son-in-law Lee Mitchell; three sisters, Blanche Meyer, Angeline Kasch, Myrtle Riedel; and four brothers, Virgil, Herb, Elmer, and Clayton Lembcke.

Friends may call on Thursday, October 27, 2011 from 5 – 7 PM at the Weiland Funeral Chapel (320 N. Egan Ave, Madison, SD 57042). A funeral service will be held, at the funeral chapel, on Friday beginning at 11 AM with Pastor Don Johnson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Ramona City Cemetery.
