Cheryl R. Carr, age 46, of West Chestnut St., Mount Vernon departed this earth on Monday, April 23, 2007 surrounded by family and friends at her home after a long battle with cancer.

She was born on October 21, 1960 in Zanesville, a daughter of Thomas and Patricia (Vincent) Purdum of Mount Vernon.

She was an active member of the Knox Chapter #236, Ohio Eastern Star and also a past member of the Mount Vernon Women of the Moose. She was a member of the Harvest Christian Church in Mount Vernon. She was currently disabled from the Mount Vernon Developmental Center, where she had worked for the past 10 years, and before that spent most of her life as a caregiver. She was always there when friends and family were in need. She loved planning all types of functions and helping people coordinate special events in their lives. She handmade many cheese balls and buckeyes for her family events and other friends often had her make them for their events.

She had a fondness of fun in the water, indoors and out. She also enjoyed relaxing with her family and friends at a remote cabin on the Dry Fork River, in the hills of West Virginia.

In addition to her parents, Cheryl is survived by husband, Andrew Carr, whom she married on May 14, 2005; a daughter, Kathryn “Katie” Carr of Mount Vernon; step daughters, Mary Boubary of Ashley and Bobbi Stover of Norristown, PA; brother, Robert (Pearl) Purdum of Mount Liberty; a sister, Christina (Dave) Ihinger of Danville; her father and mother-in-law, Harold and Mary Carr of Fairlawn; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Carr of Cleveland Heights, and Ruthann Carr of Crown Point, IN; nieces, Tina Ihinger, Heidi Purdum, and Sarah Robinson; nephews, Adam Hayman, Alex Bias, Austin Bias, David Robinson, and Rudy Ben Robinson; a life long friend Saunja Smith and her children, Rebecca Littleton, Joseph Oliver, and Amber Smith; and Paul Boubary Jr.’s mother, Evelyn Boubary and family.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her second husband and Kathryn’s father, Paul Boubary Jr. in March 2004.

The family will have a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, 2007 at the Moose Lodge in Mount Vernon with Pastor Dan Lund officiating.

The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon has been entrusted to care for the family with these arrangements.
