Charles R. “Chuck” Judson

April 08, 1936 ‒ July 14, 2021

Delaware, Ohio

Charles R. “Chuck” Judson, age 85 of Delaware passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at Sarah Moore Home.

He was born on April 8, 1936, in Columbus and graduated from West High School in 1954. Chuck retired from the City of Columbus, where he worked as an electrical engineer. He was the chief engineer for the first color broadcast in 1968 of an OSU football game on WOSU and developed the original Delaware Cable TV.

Never with idle hands, he built his family’s first color tv and stereo system. He also was an avid fan of OSU football and enjoyed woodworking. Chuck was fiercely loyal to his family, faithful to the Lord, and always willing to lend a helping hand or tool. Forever fun-loving and ornery, he gave a nickname for his acquaintances and family.  Both quick-witted and strong-willed, anything good would describe him. He treasured his family, most especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and being involved in their many activities. He leaves a legacy of good deeds, examples which will forever speak for him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved and devoted wife of 63 years, Judy (Kelley), children; Brenda (Don) Overturf of Delaware, Jeff (Michelle) Judson of Coral Springs, FL, Brian (Pam) Judson of Mechanicsburg, David (Barb) Judson of Delaware, 12 grandchildren: Sean, Ryan, Hogan, Palmer, Alex, Mallory, Seth, Gina, Jimmy, Devon, Olivia, Noah, and 8 great-grandchildren, Aunt Dorothy Nist, and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother Cleo Biddle, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and several cousins.

Friends may call from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Dr. at W. William St., Delaware, Ohio 43015. Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Radnor Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, P.O. Box 324, Blacklick, Ohio 43004, or the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 200 Vesey St., 28th Floor, New York, NY 10281

  • We were so sorry to hear of your tremendous loss. Certainly teams of soccer players send condolences to the “team grandparents.” Chuck always showed up for games no matter what. He was a very active soccer fan ….and kept those refs on their toes. Chuck made a difference in many, many lives. We need more great people like Chuck….and Judy….in this world. God bless the Judson family. 🙏⚽️🏈
