Charles L. Pickering, age 80 of Galena passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002 at St. Ann’s Hospital, Westerville.

He was born on Feb. 7, 1922 in Plain City to the late Claude S. and Ethel E. (Forwood) Pickering. Graduate of Johnstown High School and a US Airforce Veteran of WW II. A lifelong resident of Licking and Delaware Counties. He was a master of all trades including construction, autobody, and welding. Retired from the auto body dept. of Jack Maxton Chevrolet. Received craftsmanship award from Builders Exchange of Columbus in 1975 for finish carpentry.

Survived by loving wife of 54 yrs: Carrie Alviani, Daughters: Patricia E. (Bill) Rhodes of Mt. Vernon, Donna L. Morrison of Columbus, Son: Larry A. Pickering of Buckeye Lake, 6 Grandchildren, 6 Great-grandchildren, 2 Sisters, 1 Brother.

Preceded in death by 1 sister.

Friends may call Friday 5-8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury. Graveside funeral services will be Saturday 11:00 a.m. in Fancher Cemetery, conducted by family and friends, with military honors provided by the honor guard of Sunbury V.F.W. Post #8736.
