Charles E. “Bud” Barney
January 15, 1927 ‒ February 18, 2004
Charles E. “Bud” Barney, age 77 of Sunbury died Wednesday evening, February 18, 2004 at Mt. Carmel East.
He was born on Jan. 15, 1927 in Columbus to the late Charles L. and Nellie M. (Griffing) Barney. US Navy veteran of WW II, retired from Sunbury Plumbing and Heating after 39 years in 1996. He had also repaired windows for Fling Hardware and worked as a hospitality aid for Country View of Sunbury, formerly known as Morning View Care Center in Condit.
Served as a Trenton Twp. trustee for 22 years, 20 years on the fire board and as a volunteer fireman for BST& G Fire Dept. He attended Fairview Freewill Baptist Church in Homer and was a member of the Sunbury United Methodist Church. A loving father and grandfather; Bud was known for his willingness to help others.
Survived by Sons: Donald, Keith (Sandra) of Sunbury, Steven (Debbie) of Grove City, Daughter: Lori A. (Joseph) Hale of Sunbury, 7 Grandchildren Brian, Courtney, Ian, Sarah, Jeremy, Christopher, Thomas; Great-grandson Caleb; Brother William (Martha) of Franklin, KY; Sister Frances Boyer of Gahanna, Anna (James) Woods of Amlin, Edna Kidwell, Mary Alice (Edward) Mayhew of Columbus.
Preceded in death by wife of 39 years Helen M. (Nice) Barney on Dec. 17, 1997, Grandson: James Hale.
Friends may call Friday 5-9 p.m. and Saturday 12 – 2:00 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury, where services will follow Saturday 2:00 p.m., Pastor Crate Sparks officiating, interment Trenton Cemetery.
