Charles “Chuck” M. Travis, age 51, of Columbus Road, Mount Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Knox Community Hospital. He was born on August 23, 1959 in Columbus, Ohio to Charles L. and Merrilyn (Stanley) Travis. Chuck previously worked at Ohio Steel Industries. He enjoyed fishing, mustang automobiles and astronomy. Chuck will be sadly missed by his family.

He is survived by his mother, his wife of 32 years, Karen (Baker) Travis, three sons, Jeremy (Stephanie) Travis, Brandon (Brandy) Travis and Mitch (Blaire Skaggs) Travis all of Mount Vernon, two grandchildren, Nathen and Keith Travis, two brothers, Harold Travis of Alexandria and Jeff (Brenda) Travis of Columbus, two sisters, Becky (Wayne) Rister of Wheelersburg and Tammy Saunders of Prospect.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 where a funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. Rev. Richard Elsworth will be officiating. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. in Maplewood Cemetery in New Albany.
