MANSFIELD: Charles Benson “Ben” Marshall, 96, formerly of Blymer Avenue, Mansfield, and New Cumberland, West Virginia, died Friday morning March 24, 2006 in Lexington Court Care Center following a long illness.
He was born March 10, 1910 in Coshocton to Thomas M. and Nellie (Mack) Marshall, attended Springfield Schools, and completed banking courses at Wittenberg College.
A steel industry executive, Mr. Marshall retired in1974 following 38 years to National Steel Company, retiring as Export Sales Manager.
He moved to the Mansfield area in 1999 from New Cumberland, West Virginia, where he was a member of New Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Marshall was an associate member of the New York City Downtown Athletic Club, and a 58-year member of the Masonic Lodge.
An avid sports fan, he had attended the World Series and Kentucky Derby for 30 consecutive years.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law Jerry and Janet Marshall of Bellville and Harold and Sharon Marshall of Prospect; and two grandsons Capt. Steve Marshall and Eric Marshall.
He was preceded in death by his wife Alda M. (Anderson) Marshall in 1977; as well as by a daughter Carol Ann Marshall; and brothers William, Thomas and Robert Marshall and sisters Nellie Bradley, Virginia Shira, Stella Simmons, and Roxanna Stewart.
The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is serving the family with private arrangements.
