October 30, 1920 ‒ October 31, 2013
Cecelia M. Adams, age 93 of Ashley and formerly of Delaware died Thursday at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Born on October 30, 1920 in LaRue, Ohio, she was one of ten children of the late Joseph and Helen Catherine (Offenberger) Rubeck. On November 30, 1945 she married William Henry Adams of Radnor; together they lovingly raised their family on a farm outside of Radnor. Over 42 years they shared the joys and tribulations of life. William passed away in 1988.
Although a homemaker and mother first and foremost, over the years she had worked at the Ordinance Plant in Marion during WW II, a typesetter for the Richwood Gazette, Mom Wilson’s Farm Market, and Quaker Oats popcorn in Radnor. She also worked as a waitress, candy maker, grocery clerk, and assembler.
A former member of St. Joseph Church in LaRue, she was a member of St. Mary Church in Delaware. She was quite the gardener in her day, canning and freezing her garden goods, her dill pickles were especially grand. At heart she was the constant caregiver, caring for many more than her own. Fun loving and ornery in her day, at times she could be opinionated.
She was skilled with the needle and thread doing embroidery and sewing. Cecelia enjoyed traveling and was always willing to go wherever the destination. The smell and taste of her home baked pies will long be remembered.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Catherine (Lawrence) Schultz of Richwood, Patricia (Oscar) Landacre of Ostrander, Joyce (Roger) Plymale of Delaware, 6 grandchildren, 2 Step-grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 5 step-great-grandchildren, sister-in-law: Mary Rose (Albert) Rubeck of Marion, several nieces, nephews, and special friend Sr. Julie O’Stroske of Sunbury.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by granddaughter Laura Schultz, 7 brothers, and 2 sisters.
Friends may call 2-5 p.m. on Sunday at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William St. at Valleyside Dr., Delaware. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Church, 82 E. William St., Delaware with Rev. Michael B. Watson Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to Ohio Health Hospice, 561 W. Central Ave., Delaware, Ohio 43015.
