Carolyn L. Magill, age 85, of Gambier Road, Mount Vernon, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2014 at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. She was born on March 30, 1928 in Mount Vernon, Ohio to the late Earl and Emma (Elder) Hess. Carolyn previously worked for the Mount Vernon Developmental Center before moving to Burkburnett, Texas. Carolyn was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and always enjoyed a good a game of cards. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Burkburnett, Texas. Carolyn was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution and one of the first female members of the Elks Lodge in Wichita Falls, Texas
She is survived by a son, Tom (Susie) Magill of Round Rock, Texas, three daughters, Suzy (James Cochran) Davidson of Mount Vernon, Kim (Matt) Phillips of Bellville and Jacki (Steve) Daugherty of Burkburnett, Texas, ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and a great great grandson.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by husband, Jack Magill, a son, John Douglas Magill and a brother, Jack Hess.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday at 5 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home where friends may call one hour prior. Mr. Ken Springer will be officiating. A private burial will be held in Mound View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Knox County.
