Carole A. Maidens

Carole A. Maidens, 73, of Galion, died Thursday, Mar. 25, 2010 at Galion Community Hospital.
Born June 7, 1936 in Galion, she was the daughter of the late Herman Richard Derfler and Hilda Alice Chambers Derfler. She was preceded in death on Nov. 22, 2009 by her husband, Richard E. Maidens, whom she married on May 12, 1957.
Carole was a graduate of Galion High School in 1954 and a former member of Galion Women of the Moose Chapter 177. She was a big Ohio State University sports fan and her favorite athlete was Archie Griffin. Carole loved to garden and play golf, was an avid reader and enjoyed music. Upon her death, Carole shared the gift of life as an organ and tissue donor.
Carole worked at Gala Lanes for almost 20 years. Prior to that, she worked at the Shelby Depot.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Eric Case of Toronto, Ohio; one son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Kathy Maidens of Tolono, Ill.; and four grandchildren, Jennifer Veil, Rachel Veil, Meghan Maidens and Mark Maidens, Jr.; two step-grandchildren, Greg and Todd Case; two great-grandchildren, Bob Phelps and Lucas Morrison; two step-great-grandsons, Nicholas Case and Cameron Case; one brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Susan Derfler of Galion and one sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and Bill Rose of Ashland.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Apr. 2, 2010 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2010 with Pastor Monty Trammel officiating. Burial will follow in Iberia Cemetery next to her husband.
