Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio
Formerly of Mount Vernon, Ohio

Carl Elwood Perkins Jr., 56, of Cuyahoga Falls formerly of Mount Vernon passed away on Saturday morning, December 8, 2018 at the Bath Creek Estate Nursing Home in Cuyahoga Falls. He was born on February 6, 1962 in Long Beach, CA to the late Carl Elwood Perkins Sr. and Francis Lee (Smith) Perkins Kilgore .

Carl had a zest for life and lived each day to the fullest.  Few could keep up.  He loved reading his bible, working on cars, carpentry and helped build several houses in the surrounding area.  He had a passion for older vehicles and pulled a 1970 ½ Camaro out of a field at 16 and rebuilt it with his dad piece by piece, his car remained with him and was still a huge part of his life when God called him home.

After the accident that paralyzed him, he would still go to his garage when his health would allow, he built several things one of which was a new door for his bedroom.  He was a perfectionist when it came to building things and he found flaws in the store bought. He also had his loyal companion and service dog, Luke for many years.  Luke was his golden retriever or as brother lovingly referred to as “Luke Duke Perkins”.  They spent many nights snuggled up together on Carl’s bed watching movies and Luke going to get Carl a soda when brother would ask.

Carl is survived by his step father, Charles Kilgore; sisters, Carla (Perkins) Wasmer and Kimberly (Perkins) Parker and husband, Randy; half-sister, Jackie (Zimmerman) Scott and husband, Bob and Shirley Zimmerman; half-brother, Teddy Zimmerman and wife, Sandy; aunts, Emma Mae Collins and Sandy Wood; and nieces and nephews and he loved them dearly.

Carl was preceded in death by his father, Carl in 1984; mother, Francis in 2013; brother-in-law, Wade Davis in 2003; half-sister, Drucilla (Zimmerman) Howard; and a niece, Robin Howard.

The family will receive friends from Noon until the time of a funeral service celebrating the life of Carl at 1 p.m.  on Friday, December 14, 2018  at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Rd., Mount Vernon with Pastor Wade Wolf officiating.  Burial will follow Mound View Cemetery.
