Brandon Petersen

June 11, 1985 ‒ December 16, 2016

Pompano Beach, Florida
Formerly of Mansfield, Ohio

MANSFIELD: Brandon Daniel Petersen unexpectedly passed away Friday, December 16, 2016 on a job site in Boca Raton, Florida. He was 31 years old.

Brandon was born June 11, 1985 in Galion, OH and he was the son of Dan Petersen & Ronda (Landin) Odson.  Brandon was a graduate of Lexington High School, Class of 2004.  During high school he enjoyed working at Snow Trails and Wayne’s Country Market.

Brandon’s daughter Brooklynn was the love of his life, every time they talked he always told her he loved her to the moon and back.  Everyone who met Brandon fell in love with him. Living in Pompano Beach, Florida with his girlfriend Amanda, he would enjoy fishing in the evening in the nearby lake. Moving to Florida allowed Brandon to live life to the fullest. He loved the ocean and frequently enjoyed fishing, scuba diving, and snorkeling.

Brandon worked as a landscaper and also helped build docks and other marine architecture. He made friends all over Florida including his boss and co-workers. One of his favorite weekend activities was to head out on a boat to the Keys with friends.

His family will remember him as adventurous and charming—Brandon always “lived life for today.” He will be dearly missed.

Brandon is survived by his mother and step-father Ronda & Gary Odson of Mansfield; father Dan Petersen of Mansfield; daughter Brooklynn Petersen of Mansfield; girlfriend Amanda Shurte and her son Braeden of Pompano Beach, FL; sisters and brothers-in-law Brandy (Petersen) & Corey Timlin of Powell and Tiffany (Odson) & Nick Dunlap of Kent; two nieces Olivia Timlin and Addy Dunlap; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and close friends.

The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2016 at Snyder Funeral Home (2553 Lexington Avenue, Mansfield OH 44904).

In lieu of flowers, contributions to benefit his daughter Brooklynn’s education (please make checks payable to Brandy Timlin) may be made at the funeral home.

Snyder Funeral Homes is honored to serve Brandon’s family and encourage you to share a fond memory or message of condolence to them—and watch his tribute video—at SnyderFuneralHomes.com

  • I am so very saddened to hear of Brandon’s passing. He always had a smile on his face. I loved working with him at the Market. We had so many good times but what I remember most is how he was always our pepper tester. We’d give Brandon the peppers so he could tell us if they were hot or mild. We got him a few times with hot, he was such a champ. I haven’t talked to Brandon in years but I know he will be missed by many. My prayers are going out to you and I hope his memories carry you through this very difficult time. Much love and hugs

  • Dan, Brandy, and family:

I am so sorry for the loss of such a bright light. Brandon was like a brother for those couple of years when we were younger. I think my love of the ninja turtles comes from him. He used to quiz me on who was who. Recently I reminded him of how I used to sing a song by Genesis that says “I can’t dance, I can’t sing..” and he would always interrupt me right there and tell me, “you’re right you can’t sing, so stop!” I would just sing louder because that’s what we did. We would laugh and he would say it again when that part came up again. I remember putting up the Christmas tree at our house in Upper and the three of us kids singing carols until we had no voices – I still remember the picture.

Lastly was the walk of life. Dan, you certainly showed your children how to love life and live it just a little fuller than others.
    I love you guys.
    Amber

  • I would like to send my condolences to the Odson family and Brandon’s daughter Brooklyn, I am so sorry for your loss. It is never easy to loose a loved one; especially during this time of year for many people. Brandon seems to have been a wonderful person to all who knew him. My father was a person who also loved to fish. May the God of all comfort bring comfort to your family at this time, and look forward to when you all are reunite in again by your heavenly father.

  • Dan, so sorry to hear of the loss of your precious son, Brandon. My son, Brent Williams went to school with Brandon and they’ve remained good friends throughout the years. They shared many fun memories. Praying for you, his daughter and the rest of your family. May The Lord give you peace, comfort and strength, to see you through this very difficult time. Marty Baker

  • Our sincerest condolences and deepest sympathies to you, Dan and the entire Petersen family. We are very sorry for the loss of Brandon. May the memories you share with him give you all strength and healing during this difficult time.
    Dan, Brenda & Garret Niss

  • I can’t tell you enough how sorry I am for your loss. Brandon was the sweetest or the little pistol who you loved even more because of the “sweetest” part of him. The first thing that came to mind was our “walk of life” days trampling across the couch, beds, coffee table or anything else that may be in our path. We had so much fun and those memories are still and always will be cherished. He will forever be in my heart and you in my prayers.
    Love Becky

  • To all of you:

Rhonda as a Mother I will carry your lost with me always. (Drena).

May you all be blessed with Brandon’s presence always until you meet him again.

    All our love and prayers,
Drena, Jim, Stephanie, Mike, Theresa-Ann, Isabelle’, and Brandon’s class mate from LHS Brittany Hester Garcia.

  • Brandy,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. We are so very sorry about brother Brandon.

    Prayers,
    Todd & Corri Boone

  • I am praying for you Gary, Ronda, and especially Brooklynn. This death was so sudden and tragic. It seems even harder because it came at Christmastime, but that also means it came at the time of the year when we celebrate the gift of eternal life given to us by the entrance of our Savior into the world.

May you take comfort and hope from the promise of a reunion in heaven someday. My sincere condolences. May God minister to each of your hearts in just the way you need at this time.

    Pastor Craig

  • I am so sorry for your loss. I never had the privilege of meeting Brandon, but it sounds like he was a wonderful man who will be greatly missed. Please take comfort in knowing that death is only a temporary part of life. (John 5:28,29) Although your time with Brandon was far too short, you can have the hope of being reunited with him forever, under perfect circumstances. (Revelation 21:4) In the meantime, even though the pain may at times seem insurmountable, rest assured that God will give you the strength necessary to endure. (Psalm 94:17-19) Please accept my deepest sympathy and sincerest condolences.
