BELLVILLE: Bonnie Palmer, 42, of Possum Run Road, Bellville died Sunday, July 6, 2008 in Metro Health Medical, Cleveland, from injuries sustained in an accident.
She was born December 27, 1965 in Mansfield to Bruce and Linda (Barr) Steel and was graduated from Clear Fork High School in 1984.
Throughout high school, Bonnie was active in 4-H and was a member of the Richland County Junior Fair Board. She was also an attendant in the Bellville Fair.
On September 8, 1984 she married Bill Palmer with whom she shared her life for nearly 25 years.
Bonnie was a caring giving mother, who made time for her own, as well as dedicated her time and talents to helping other mothers and children. She was a member of Tots to Teens with her mother, and was instrumental in helping to start Crayons to Calculators a chapter of the Ohio Child Conservation League in Richland County. Within this group Bonnie served as the Central Region Officer.
For many years she worked in the cafeteria at Butler Junior High, and the last 10 years she worked at the Mohican Youth Center in Loudonville.
In her spare time, Bonnie was very committed to fitness and exercising, she had many great friends that she also considered her support group at Curves in Loudonville.
She was a confirmed member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bellville.
Bonnie had a domestic side and enjoyed working in her flower and water gardens, and cooking. She also had a wild side that inspired her to take to the open road on her own motorcycle.
Constantly thinking of others, Bonnie was always on the look out for special gift items for her friends and family. Even when selecting a card, not just any would do. Bonnie’s cards and gifts followed a special theme and were always perfectly suited for the receiver.
She is survived by her husband Bill Palmer of Bellville, their two children Sara and Steve Palmer both of Bellville, her parents Bruce and Linda Steel, a sister and brother-in-law Beth and Amos Fry all of Bellville, mother-in-law Joann Palmer of Bellville, father-in-law and his wife Steve and Linda Palmer of Bellville, a brother-in-law Scott Palmer of Perrysville, a niece and nephew Ethan and Emily Fry of Bellville, aunts and uncles Larry and Monya Barr and Jerry and Pam Steel all of Bellville, treasured cousins Zac and Alyssa and “Craig Allen” Hallabrin of Butler, and numerous cousins who were always special to Bonnie.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother Brett Steel, her maternal grandparents Effie Barr, and Robert and Edna Barr, and her paternal grandparents John and Alberta Steel.
The Palmer family will receive friends Thursday, July 10, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home. A family service will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions to Crayons to Calculators, or the Worthington Township Rescue Squad may be made through the funeral home.
