LEXINGTON: Billy E. “Bill” Wade, 68, of Essex Road, Lexington, died Tuesday afternoon July 30, 2002 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following a short illness.

He was born August 3, 1933 in New Plymouth to Chester and Ethel May (Montgomery) Wade, and was graduated from New Straitsville High School in 1951.

A US Navy veteran, he earned the Navy Occupation Service Medal, for his service in Europe.

Bill’s career took him from Logan to Lancaster to Michigan City, Indiana, and he moved to Lexington in 1969.

He retired in 1990 following 42 years of service with Sears Roebuck & Company, retiring as Central Service Manager.

A loving husband, father and grandfather, Bill spent many hours researching family genealogies, enjoyed golfing and taking care of his family.

He is survived by his wife Ann B. (Tivner) Wade, whom he married May 22, 1954; his daughter and son-in-law Pam S. and Randy Weitlauf of Norwood; his son and daughter-in-law Brian E. and Patty Wade of Bellville; five grandchildren Sean Weitlauf, Jared Weitlauf, Amy Wade, Chelsea Wade and Britani Wade; two sisters Beulah Matthews and Alice Martin both of New Straitsville; and two brothers and sisters-in-law Richard “Lefty” and Betty Wade of Newark and the Rev. Robert and Gladys Wade of Atlanta, Georgia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Delbert Wade and a sister Anna Ruth Wade.

Friends may call Thursday August 1, 2002 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Friday at 11 am in North Woodbury Alliance Church, 6385 State Route 314, North Woodbury. The Rev. Brian Durbin will officiate. Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery, where the Richland County Joint Veterans Council will hold military graveside honors.
