Bill Brown

October 14, 1940 ‒ December 04, 2018

Morral, Ohio
Formerly of Marion, Ohio

Bill Brown, age 78, of Morral, died Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at Riverside Methodist Hospital surrounded by his loving family following a brief illness.

On October 14, 1940, Bill was born in Vasper, Tennessee, the youngest of seven children of the late John Bedford and Peggy Jean (Daugherty) Brown.

In 1963, Bill made his way to Los Angeles, California, and found a job working as a manager and inspector in a warehouse.  He had an incident with one of his employees, Diana Ackley, which caused her to leave the company.  After which, Bill did all he could to smooth things over with her, and from there the rest is history.  They were meant for her each and got married shortly thereafter on October 14, 1967.  They shared fifty one exciting years of marriage, always keeping each other on their toes.  They were a team, when you saw one you knew the other wasn’t far behind.

After living in California and Michigan, Bill and Diana chose to make their home in Morral, Ohio, in 1971.  He worked for ten years at the Marion Power Shovel, leaving there to work construction.  He owned and operated his own construction business, helping his many clients and friends with their various projects.  He also was always his daughter’s first call whenever they needed anything, building their porches, barns, etc.  He was their biggest fans, always teaching them to be self-sufficient.  He and Diana also loved helping their girls raise their horses.

Having a love the outdoors, Bill’s favorite pastime was fishing.  He loved casting a line with his beloved family and friends, “anywhere there was water.”  He especially loved teaching his grandchildren to fish.  He also enjoyed returning to Tennessee every chance he could to retrace his roots, visiting countless cemeteries to locate his ancestors.

Bill will was the best husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather they could have asked for.  He was always there for them.  He was their shoulder to cry on.  And he was the one that often made them laugh until they cried.

Bill will be dearly missed by his wife, Diana Brown; three daughters: Robin Townsend, Terri (Ryan Large) Brown, and Billi (Craig) Rutherford; four grandchildren: Baili King, Jon and Hayden Townsend, and Ramsi Rutherford; two great-grandchildren: Paizli and Axtin; a sister, Jean Jones of Michigan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Including his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a son-in-law, “Big Jon” Townsend; and five siblings.

His family will greet friends from 10 – Noon on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at the Snyder Funeral Homes, DENZER Chapel, 360 E. Center St., Marion.  Casual Attire Jeans, Boots. Services honoring his life will follow there at Noon, with Celebrant Therese Lehman officiating.  Burial will follow in Grand Prairie Cemetery.
