Beverly Jean Anderson
July 31, 1946 ‒ April 26, 2008
Beverly Jean Anderson, age 61, of Richwood, died early on Saturday morning, April 26, 2008, at her home following a two and a half year battle with cancer.
She was born in Kenton, Ohio, on July 31, 1946, the daughter of the late Edgar and Imogene (Reedy) Shoemaker. Beverly graduated from Elgin High School in the Class of 1964.
Shortly following high school, Beverly met a young man named Larry Anderson. Not long after meeting they married on May 1, 1966, and enjoyed nearly forty two years together.
In Green Camp, Beverly held many different positions at B.F. Goodrich, which would later become Stratoflex, and later Parker-Hannifin until they closed their doors in 2004. She was a member of the United Rubber Workers Association.
A devoted wife and mother, Beverly worked third shift most of her life to make sure she would always be there for her children. This carried over onto her grandchildren, as she would do anything in her power to spoil and be there for them. Whenever anyone had a trouble or concern they would turn to her, knowing after talking with her “everything would be okay.”
During the holidays, Beverly loved having everyone over and being surrounded by her family at the dinner table. An excellent cook, Beverly took pride in providing a feast of goodies that her family could talk about for hours. Some of her specialties were making peanut brittle, apple dumplings, turkeys and hams. She also made special meals for Mary K. Mills, whom she looked up to like a mother.
Every year Larry and Beverly would make time to go to Bruce Mines in Canada to fish. They shared this passion with their children when they were older. She also enjoyed snowmobiling throughout the area with her husband and friends.
Very talented with her crochet hooks, Beverly enjoyed making beautiful blankets for all of her grandchildren.
An avid gardener, Beverly grew countless vegetables to be used during her feasts.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, Larry, three daughters: Tracy (Scott) Flick of McComb, Melissa (John) Spencer of Marysville, and Stacy (Bob) Fisher of Prospect; eight grandchildren: Tiffany and Courtney Flick, Jaime, Chase and Mackenzie Spencer, Nichelle, Lauren and Robby Fisher; a sister, Linda (Fred) Hanning of Marion; numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews; and her cat, Buddy.
Including her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by two brothers: Harold and Jack Shoemaker; and a sister, Shirley Shoemaker.
Her family will greet friends on Monday from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion, where services celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. J. Weston Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Price Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 241 S. Prospect St., Marion, Ohio 43302.
