Betty Lucille Webber, 84, of Galion, died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Olentangy Woods Nursing Center in Galion.
Born October 4, 1926 in Des Arc, Ark., she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Eva Edna Winberry Barlow. She was preceded in death on April 1, 1980 by her husband, James W. Webber, whom she married on November 4, 1944.
Lucille was a generous and loving person who dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren and to her work as a seamstress at Caleb V. Smith Company where she worked for 40 years, retiring in 1993. She will be remembered for her wonderful cooking ability and her notorious homemade sweet tea, which cannot be duplicated. Lucille and her family are very grateful for those who shared their care and concern with her throughout her declining health the last few years.
Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Marjorie and Russell Gelvin, of Mansfield and Carolyn Webber, of Galion; one daughter-in-law, Randi Webber, of Bucyrus; three granddaughters, Becky and Rachel Webber, of Bucyrus and Brandy Chris Morris, of Galion; two grandsons, Adrian Purnell and Billie Gelvin, of Mansfield; two sisters-in-law, Betty and Edna Barlow; several nieces and nephews, including Marion “Bud” Barlow of Illinois and many cousins.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by one son, Wayne Webber, one grandson, Damian Purnell and four brothers, William Marion “W. C.” Barlow, William Leroy “W. L.” Barlow, Elbert “Snooks” Barlow and Robert Jack Barlow.
At Lucille’s request, no funeral services will be held. Arrangements are in the care of Richardson-Davis Funeral Home in Galion.
