Betty L. Stephens, age 83, of Marengo, died peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2019 with her family by her side.  She was born on February 6, 1936 in Wayne, WV to the late Emmett and Ina (Phelps) Adkins. On September 2, 1955 she married Paul C. Stephens, Jr in Fulton, Ohio. They celebrated 45 years of marriage before he passed away in April of 2001.  Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother “GG” who loved spending time with her family. She also loved to be outside, work in her yard and bird watch, especially the hummingbirds. She was a great cook and her family enjoyed many amazing meals over the years. Betty is survived by her two sons, Rick of Delaware and Randy of Chillicothe; her daughter-in-law, Kim of Marengo; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Ricky of Marion and his daughter Avery, Gabe (Kaily) and their two daughters Paizley and Lynnen, and Jennifer all of Marengo, Laura (Heather Hobbs) and their two daughters Abby and Kyler and Jason all of Delaware.  Betty is also survived by her brothers, Emmett Adkins Jr., Enoch Adkins and Jimmy (Sharon) Adkins of Marengo, Jonah (Cindy) Adkins of Chesterville; sisters, Ruth Pukansky, Dorothy Coleman, Eloise (Chuck) Freeman, Laura Mailey and Joyce (Dick Wertz) of Marengo and Mary (Jerry) Fouts of Delaware. Her sisters-in law, Rose Adkins and Betty Adkins of Cardington, Janet Adkins of Florida, Linda Adkins and Kim Adkins of Marengo and Alice Miller of Ontario; brother-in-law, Richard Addison of New Carlisle; uncle, Fred Phelps of Mt. Gilead; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her son Roger, brothers, Frank, Gene, Ellet and Ernie Adkins; her sister, Hester Addison and brothers-in-law Calvin Miller and Beanie Mailey . There will be no calling hours. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 5, 2019 at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 State Route 61, (at SR 3), Sunbury, OH 43074. Pastor Frank Kirk, officiating.  Interment will follow in Marengo Cemetery.
